Mikuláš Tichý

Mikuláš Tichý comes from the Posázaví region, whose landscape is a major inspiration for his work. He now lives in Prague, where he works as a composer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist. In his music he connects elements of classical composition with minimalism through the poetics of his own view of the world. His instrumental pieces, often accompanied by electronic elements, conjure dreamlike landscapes of feeling as well as the more sober mornings of everyday life, breathing with their own dynamics and earthiness. His music is a reminder that music itself is the Esperanto of human souls. Mikuláš Tichý composed the music for the computer game Here To Stay and for the stage production of Slávy dcera at Prague's La Fabrika theatre. He has performed with the Stro_my ensemble in European cities including Szczecin, Paris, Warsaw, Berlin and Belgrade. On tour he presented his piece Restless Being, composed for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana. He studied composition at the Jan Deyl Conservatory in Prague, and alongside his own work he plays in the band RACH.
