Martina Vídenová

Martina Vídenová is a film music composer and musicologist, currently pursuing a doctorate in Musicology at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. Her composing is rooted in classical music, above all minimalism, which she often combines with electronics and ambient.

In recent years her work has focused mainly on environmental themes, and she has a long-term collaboration with the audiovisual artist and activist Vladimír Turner. She is the author of the international project Home Is the Place Where Fire Burns, which addresses the issue of large-scale forest fires in Portugal (pointing out that the climate crisis is not always the main cause behind the high number of such fires). As part of the project she composed the piece Requiem for Portuguese Forests, working with the writer David Zábranský and with musicians from the Casa da Música concert hall in Porto, among others. Together with the composer Miroslav Tóth she organised the benefit concert Rok poté (A Year After), featuring her piece In perpetuum, dedicated to the victims of the tragic events of December 2023 at the Faculty of Arts and in Klánovice. The concert was broadcast live by Czech Television and Czech Radio Vltava. Martina also chairs Uši pro duši, an association supporting children's mental health through culture.
