Jiří Trtík

Jiří Trtík is a Czech composer, conductor and teacher. In 2021 he received the OSA Award as the most successful Czech classical composer outside the Czech Republic. He has collaborated with many renowned musicians and ensembles, including members of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Cleveland Orchestra. His works have been performed in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, the USA and Japan. He has composed music for several films, including Wolves at the Borders (Vlci na hranicích). He has won prizes at international competitions, including the Donald Erb Prize in 2018. He studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Prague Conservatory and Charles University. Since 2020 he has taught at the International Conservatory in Prague. In 2024 he composed the music for the National Theatre in Prague's opera Kafka's Letter to His Father (Kafkův dopis otci), in which he performs together with his orchestra Stro.My Ensemble. He also has a long-standing collaboration with the composer Karel Havlíček.
