Floex
FLOEX, whose real name is Tomáš Dvořák, is a clarinettist, composer, producer and multimedia artist whose work blends electronic and acoustic music into a distinctive atmospheric whole. Beyond composing, he likes to experiment outside linear musical scenarios, creating interactive multimedia projects and music for games. Floex's first albums Pocustone (2001) and Zorya (2011) and the EP Gone (2013) won several prestigious awards in the Czech Republic and beyond (three Anděl Awards, a nomination for the European Qwartz Awards, and nominations for the Apollo and Vinyla Awards). His collaboration with Tom Hodge, represented by the album A Portrait Of John Doe (2018), became a unique project in which classical music and avant-garde electronics merge into a singular organic universe. The album was released by the prestigious British label Mercury KX (Decca Classics) and won an Anděl Award in the alternative music category. Tomáš Dvořák is also the author of the soundtracks for the games of Amanita Design, Samorost II and III, Pilgrims and the cult classic Machinarium, which brought him international recognition. His most recent releases include the soundtracks to the video game Papetura (Petums), the feature-length political thriller Je Suis Karl, and the video game Shoulders of Giants (Moving Pieces Interactive). He currently performs mainly with his Floex Ensemble, a chamber sextet of outstanding musicians whose repertoire features modern classical arrangements of soundtracks from Floex's studio.
