Beata Hlavenková
Beata Hlavenková, pianist, composer, singer, arranger and producer, is one of the most distinctive musicians of today, with an unmistakable genre-crossing signature. Her greatest asset is courage: the courage to experiment and to search for unconventional harmonies and arrangements. A freedom of genre, grounded in a deep knowledge of jazz, modern classical music, pop and songwriting, runs through all of her projects, together with a clearly recognisable, focused and sensitive way of playing. She has released six solo albums: Joy For Joel (2009), the piano album Theodoros (2013), Scintilla (2015), Bethlehem (2017), and the albums of songs and poems set to music Sně (2019) and Žijutě (2021). All of these recordings were nominated for the Anděl Award and two of them won (Theodoros, Jazz Album of the Year 2013; Sně, Female Artist of the Year 2019). Hlavenková collaborates with both Czech and international musicians. Among her key collaborations is the one with Lenka Dusilová: their joint album with Clarinet Factory, Eternal Seekers (2008), captivated audiences and critics alike. She was also at the birth of Baromantika, a band and production team. She composes music for theatre, dance, children's theatre and audiobooks, and arranges songs ranging from small acoustic forms and sound design all the way to symphony orchestra. She received two Czech Lion nominations for Best Music, for the film Zátopek (2021) and the series Král Šumavy: Fantom temného kraje (2022). She writes music for films and TV series, including Dukla 61 (2018), Zátopek (2021), Král Šumavy (2022) and the Norwegian drama A Prayer for the Dying (2026). She performs solo, with Kapela Snů, and in a new project with HRTL, a performer on modular synthesizer.
